In this Riverine Plains video update, Sam North (Research Hydrologist & Soil CRC project collaborator) discusses our Burramine (Vic) trial site, including how soil moisture sensors are being used to track water movement through the soil profile. He explains how researchers are investigating water infiltration, storage and drainage, and how soil constraints and different crop management practices, including cover crops, influence crop access to water.
The findings aim to support the understanding of soil water availability and inform management strategies to make better use of stored soil moisture.
This project was supported by the Soil CRC in partnership with University of Southern Queensland, Central West Farming Systems, Federation University, NSW Department of Primary Industries, and FarmLink
