Riverine Plains hosted a webinar focused on tailored strategies for soil carbon management, including practices and opportunities for potential soil carbon projects adapted to our local farming systems and environment.

The session featured insights from Dr. Karl Andersson, Research Officer in Soil Carbon (NSW DPIRD), and Dr. Abe Gibson, Research Fellow at Southern Cross University. Both experts shared valuable research and practical approaches to enhance soil health and boost carbon sequestration in the region’s agricultural landscape.

  • Introduction to soil carbon and its role in farming systems
  • Factors affecting soil carbon levels in local systems, including constraints
  • Practices that can increase soil carbon in mixed farming systems, including eligible land management practices for potential soil carbon projects
  • Benefits of enhancing soil carbon
  • Carbon market opportunities for local farmers
