Project 1.2.005 What drives farmer decisions?

Following on from Dr Hanabeth Luke’s first Soil CRC project, ‘Surveying farm practices’, this project completed the rural landholder surveys in Tasmania and the Wimmera region of Victoria. Find out more.

Project 1.2.006 Knowledge sharing for good soil stewardship

Led by Dr Hanabeth Luke from Southern Cross University, this project addressed challenges and opportunities associated with knowledge-sharing efforts directed at improving the uptake of new innovations and best practice soil management. Find out more.

Project 1.2.007 Agricultural social benchmarking surveys

Continuing on from the Soil CRC’s previous research into what drives farm management decisions, this project will help develop a longitudinal understanding of farmer practices, aspirations and motivations. Find out more.

Project 1.2.008 Packaging Soil CRC tools to enhance extension and adoption of improved soil management practices

Led by Dr Nathan Craig from West Midlands Group, this project supports four grower groups to critically evaluate their current extension practices and identify which Soil CRC extension tools can be combined to improve farmer adoption of innovation. Find out more.

Project 1.2.009 Social benchmarking rural landholders across Australia

Led by Dr Hanabeth Luke, this project will complete the second round of the Soil CRC’s social benchmarking of rural landholders to enable a longitudinal understanding of farmer practices, aspirations, and motivations. Find out more.

Project 1.3.001 Risk assessment of new practices

Led by Associate Professor Kala Saravanathu from the University of Newcastle, this project (1.3.001) used integrated risk management software to facilitate collaborative resilience thinking. It integrated field data about on-farm productivity with farmers’ and experts’ real-world, lived experiences of how farm productivity is affected by the consequences of unsustainable practices. Project 1.4.001 Innovation capability building

The aim of this project (1.4.001) was to build long term innovation capability within the Soil CRC”s participating organisations. Led by Professor David Falepau from Charles Sturt University, the project established innovation partnership agreements and completed innovation strategic plans with Soil CRC partner farmer groups. Project 1.4.002 Building farmer innovation capability

Led by Professor David Falepau from Charles Sturt University, this project (1.4.002) began the refinement of a partnership approach which builds the long term capability of farmers, through farmer groups, to lead the innovation process from ideation through to commercialisation and adoption. Project 1.4.003 Building farmer innovation capability – Phase two

Following on from the Soil CRC project ‘Building farmer innovation capability’ (1.4.002) which worked with five farmer groups to build their innovation systems, capability and culture, ‘Phase Two’ (1.4.003) will establish similar partnerships with another four farmer groups. Find out more.

Project 1.4.004 Defining the benefits of regenerative agriculture

Led by Dr Christine Storer from Charles Sturt University, this project (1.4.004) will develop a framework that can be used to assess a wide range of economic and social impacts of agriculture, allowing comparisons among different approaches. Find out more.
