Grower groups delve into soil carbon management

The Soil CRC’s NSW grower group participants are hosting the next round of soil carbon capacity building webinars for NSW’s farmers, landowners and advisors.

The webinars cover the opportunities and practices for local soil carbon management relevant to the local farming systems and environment.

Topics for discussion include:

  • Expected soil carbon levels in the local region
  • Factors that influence soil carbon levels
  • Management practices that can increase soil carbon levels.

  • Date: Thursday 10 October 2024, 1pm – 2pm AEST
  • Host: Central West Farming Systems
  • Presenters: Dr Abe Gibson, Research Fellow at Southern Cross University and Dr Cassandra Schefe, Soil Scientist at AgriSci.

Webinar 5: Opportunities and Practices for Soil Carbon Management in the Riverina

  • Date: Tuesday 15 October 2024, 7pm – 8.10pm AEST
  • Host: Riverine Plains Inc.
  • Presenters: Dr Karl Andersson, Research Officer in Soil Carbon at NSW DPI&RD, and Dr Abe Gibson, Research Fellow at Southern Cross University.

These webinars are being delivered by the Soil CRC as part of the ‘Soil Carbon Capacity Building Resources for Farmers and Advisors’ project, which offers guidance on soil management changes, increasing soil carbon, and can help farmers earn carbon credits.
